What is Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a time-tested therapeutic technique with over 2,500 years of clinical application. By stimulating specific points on your body with fine, sterile needles, acupuncture works to restore balance to your body's natural energy flow (known as "Qi"), reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and activate your body's innate healing mechanisms.

What is included

01

First Consultation

Your first visit begins with a comprehensive consultation where we discuss your health concerns, medical history, lifestyle factors, and treatment goals. This conversation helps us understand not just your symptoms, but the underlying patterns that may be contributing to your discomfort.

We'll also perform a traditional Chinese medicine diagnostic assessment, which may include pulse and tongue diagnosis, time-honoured techniques that provide valuable insights into your body's current state of balance.

02

First Treatment

Based on our consultation, we'll develop a personalised treatment plan that may incorporate acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, and movement guidance. During your first acupuncture session, we'll explain exactly what we're doing and why, ensuring you feel comfortable and informed throughout.

Acupuncture needles are incredibly fine, much thinner than injection needles, and most people are surprised by how little they feel. The sensation is often described as a slight tingling or gentle pressure, followed by deep relaxation as your body's healing response activates.

03

Ongoing Care & Results

The number of sessions you'll need depends on your condition's nature, severity, and chronicity. Acute issues often respond quickly (sometimes within 1-3 sessions) whilst chronic conditions typically require a more sustained approach, usually 6-10 treatments for optimal results.

Many patients report noticeable improvement after their first session, with cumulative benefits building over successive treatments. We'll review your progress regularly and adjust your treatment plan as needed.
